Top 5 Charmhotel

1 - Pointe du Raz

Here, Finistère fully justifies its name: the end of the land is celebrated in a parade of capes and promontories that brave the open sea. Famous the world over, the Pointe du Raz has inspired many writers, including Victor Hugo, and has been designated a "great natural site of France". Sculpted by the ocean and the winds, the Pointe du Raz is well worth a visit in itself. Beyond the untamed rocks and emerald sea, the panoramic view out to sea allows you to admire the Ile de Sein and, on a clear day, the Ar Men lighthouse.

2 - The Guilvinec fish market

A veritable ballet of boats unfolds before your very eyes. From the panoramic terrace, admire the unloading of the day's fresh catch: the dockers load trolleys with crates full of fish, langoustines and other shellfish. The catch is then auctioned off in the auction hall below you.

 18 km - 20 minutes

3 - Quimper

Quimper has been awarded the Ville d'Art et d'Histoire (City of Art and History) label thanks to the quality of its architectural heritage: St Corentin's Cathedral, houses from the 16th and 17th centuries, the ramparts and quays of the Odet, the Locmaria district, museums, etc. Saint Corentin Cathedral is the jewel in Quimper's crown of Gothic architecture. Situated right in the centre of the town, this place of worship is steeped in history. Construction began in 1239 under Bishop Raynaud, on the foundations of a Romanesque church. Construction lasted several centuries, and in 1410 the choir vaults were completed, while the glass roofs in the upper windows were installed. Construction of the nave and the two towers on the façade began in 1424. It was only in 1854 and 1856 that the church's spires, for which it is now famous, were added.

4 - Brest harbour and the Brest Arsenal

Welcome to Brest, an urban and maritime metropolis linked to the ocean by its harbour. Brest's harbour covers 180 km² of water, a veritable nautical stadium! It's an ideal place to sail and take advantage of the many sea-related activities on offer. The Brest arsenal groups together all the military and naval installations of the French Navy based in Brest. It is one of Europe's oldest strongholds. Despite the bombardments of the Second World War, most of its buildings are still standing, starting with the former submarine base.

5 - Douarnenez and Locronan

The pretty seaside town of Douarnenez has no fewer than four harbours! Savour the unique atmosphere of its lively quays and narrow streets lined with fishermen's workshops and houses. With your nose in the sea breeze, let yourself be charmed by the Plomarch promenade, the superb bay, the nearby beaches and Ile Tristan. Listed as a Historic Monument since 1924, Locronan is one of Brittany's most prestigious sites, thanks to its architectural quality. Numerous art craftsmen have settled here. Situated on a mountain, in an exceptional natural setting just 5km from the sea, Locronan is also the starting point for numerous walking and mountain bike trails. A true land of inspiration for artists, painters, writers, sculptors and film-makers, the charm of this little Breton gem never fails to impress.
