Top 5 Charmhotel

1 - Gordes, sentinel of stone

Gordes has long been one of the most beautiful villages in France, and rightly so. It is a village where limestone, dry stone walls and bories are omnipresent features of the landscape. The village has been sheltered under the castle, designed to protect the vulnerable junction with the plateau, since 1031.

And so, for 7 centuries, it became one of the watchtowers of Provence, with its strong walls, tall houses with few openings and its labyrinth of narrow streets. In the upper part of the village: the castle, the church of Saint-Firmin, restaurants and shops.

2 - Roussillon

Situated in the heart of Europe's largest ochre deposit, Roussillon proclaims its mineral uniqueness with an astonishing palette of flamboyant colours. As you wander through its narrow streets and staircases, and contemplate its often simple yet naturally beautiful facades, you'll admire the result of skills that go back more than a thousand years. Take time out to wander around the old ochre quarries in Roussillon-and to photograph them. The rich tones of yellows and reds create a tableau vivant effect. The longest of the paths leads to the breathtaking Chaussée des Géants.

3 - Vaucluse fountain

The source of the Sorgue, the largest resurgence in Europe, is a geological curiosity that has long challenged mankind. The flow of water from the chasm traditionally attracts crowds, particularly in spring, when the bubbling waters provide a spectacle of rare intensity. The beauty of this natural site, now jealously preserved, has made it a favourite haunt of poets such as Petrarch, Boccaccio, Chateaubriand, Mistral and Char.

4 - Goult

The hilltop village enjoys an exceptional panorama stretching from the Petit Luberon to Mont Ventoux, via the Vaucluse mountains. The village, dominated by its old church flanked by century-old cedar trees, offers visitors a wide variety of natural and historical sites. As you stroll along its steep, winding streets, you'll come across some remarkable houses, remnants of ramparts, fountains and wash-houses.

GOULT is an old village in the Luberon Regional Nature Park that will delight lovers of old stones and beautiful nature.

Carefully restored, the village boasts some beautiful stone buildings. Stroll through the narrow streets past the church and fall under the spell of its vaulted passageways, arcades and old doors.

Here you will discover the remains of ancient ramparts and the d'Agoult family castle rising out of the rock (private property, not open to the public).
