It's Le Tour de France, Saturday, July 19, 2025: Pau - Luchon-Superbagnères (183 km).
The route of stage 14 is modelled on the 1986 edition: the ascent to the Tourmalet via Luz-Saint-Sauveur (19 km at 7.4%) is the least-used, as is the road to the Col d'Aspin via Payolle (5 km at 7.6%). Above all, it will be a reunion with the ultra-demanding climb to Superbagnères (12.4 km at 7.5%), where the slope changes lend themselves to a pitched battle between the favourites.
And for our season finale, come and take part in the Foire aux côtelettes de Luz-Saint-Sauveur on the last weekend of September: a festive gathering around the Barèges-Gavarnie PDO sheep, the only sheep in France to hold a PDO. The charter: 2 summers in the mountains, 90% local winter fodder from the Toy valley and local slaughter.
Events focusing on sheep, wool, gastronomy and local traditions.
“Barèges-Gavarnie PDO So good...that we've dedicated an entire region to it...”.
... in the Charmhotel La Brèche de Roland
As its name suggests, La Brèche de Roland is the only hotel with a view of the legendary Brèche de Roland: Charlemagne's nephew, pursued by Saracens, cut the mountain in half with his Durandal sword to get rid of his attackers!
The hotel's appeal doesn't stop there, however, with its ideal location close to the Cirque de Gavarnie.
Unesco World Heritage Site, makes the hotel a must for discovering this valley worthy of a movie set. The Cirque de Gavarnie has a unique Unesco classification, as it is a natural heritage site, a cultural heritage site and a cross-border site between France and Spain. Exclusive!
With us, you'll discover Lourdes, a world-famous pilgrimage site that brings together thousands of believers.
You can take to the skies at “Le Vaisseau des étoiles” - the Pic du Midi de Bigorre, where astronomy, breathtaking 360° panoramic views of the Pyrenees and gastronomy are sure to win you over. The Pic du Midi de Bigorre also boasts a number of titles: Dark Sky Reserve, UNESCO World Heritage Site and France's favorite monument.
When it comes to gastronomy and local produce, we're just as rich: Garbure Pyrénéenne, Porc Noir de Bigorre, Barèges-Gavarnie PDO mutton (the only sheep in France to have obtained this PDO), gâteau à la broche, all washed down with a Madiran wine of character.
For all these good reasons, don't hesitate to pay us a visit.
